Pop Gun War Sample 01 by whoisrico Pop Gun War Sample 01 by whoisrico
SUPER old work. Years ago I colored 3 pages of Farel Dalrymple's Pop Gun War (I fooking love those books!) to stick in my portfolio to show editors some sequential work. I generally heard, "Nice color choices, not enough rendering" from the editors I showed them to. I'd definitely do them a bit differently now but I still like these.

Dude, Pop Gun War is awesome and your colors work really well on Farel's drawing.

Before I really looked at it I thought it was a comic about Obama playing in the bathtub.

i think flat colors work perfectly for dalrymple's work. Is there more than one pop gun book now?

I've heard there is a collected book but I've never seen it. Farel originally put them out as single issues.

Rendering doesn't pay the bills as quickly. Simple is better and harder to pull off effectively. My hat is off to you. Nice page.

I think that flat colors use to be better for storytelling and I agree, renderings are over rated. You've done a great job, man!

Bahhh! You don't need rendering with good color choices. A lot of comics seem to be over-rendered. I don't think its always necessary. Sometimes flat colors compliment the lineart better anyway.
